“Home is where the heart is.” … I heard this many times growing up but didn’t completely understand what it meant.
I thought home was where you took your first baby steps, or where your mom made you homemade meals and you watched T.V with your dad, but growing up, I found “home” to be something different.
Most of us have an ideal image of the way we want our future house to look, the location, the design, furniture, and mine was always clear but I just had no idea it was out there.
A road full of tall green trees, the rays from the sun shining through the leaves, fresh air and a lot of ocean was what I wanted to be surrounded by.
Then, one day, I decided to do a yoga teacher training on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica.
If you can dream of it, it can come true.
Costa Rica was always a place I wanted to visit, and I thought what’s better than learning about yoga while also becoming a yoga instructor while I am there?
I searched on Google about teacher trainings in Costa Rica and Blue Osa Yoga Retreat And Spa was the first one to show up. After clicking on the website once, I didn’t look at anything else after that. Blue Osa was the place I would be for an entire month. I felt excited, nervous, and full of curiosity, but I just had a feeling that month was going to change my life.
How I Fell In Love With Blue Osa Yoga Retreat And Spa
It was time to leave the United States and come to Costa Rica for the first time. After two flights and a transportation shuttle, I finally got to Blue Osa and all I can remember is how much I was smiling when I got here, it felt like .. home.
Nature
Blue Osa is rich in nature. There are different types of trees and greens surrounding the property, beautiful gardens that made me feel like I was in a Disney movie.
The ocean as the backyard, with an empty and almost private beach, the mountains in the back and the ocean that looks so expansive and not to mention, the cats and dogs that bring even more joy to the place, “they have very good karma” , like my teacher Yogi Aaron, owner of Blue Osa Yoga Retreat And Spa says.
The Staff
I could not believe how kindly I was treated that entire month. Every time I needed something, the staff helped me out before I could even finish asking for it. They always greeted me with a huge and genuine smile, so kind and always at service.
The Food
One of the nights while talking to the girls, one of them asks me “If you could live on any type of food, what would it be?” & I said “Blue Osa food.”
Farm-to-table, freshly made food, served daily, but it wasn’t just the spices, herbs, looks, sensations Blue Osa’s food gave, it was all the love you felt in the food that each employee poured on it.
Yoga
I dropped my jaw the first I arrived on the yoga deck. It’s a big space, with open windows and fresh air and with a view of either the jungle or the ocean. How can it get any better than that? I was in this space every day during my teacher training and I didn’t want to be anywhere else, this was the place where I found my passion.
I started to know what being “home” felt like and most of all I started to understand, what the saying “home is where your heart is”
30 days later… my one-month immersion had ended but I knew my journey in Costa Rica had just started.
Why I chose to come back to Blue Osa Yoga Retreat And Spa
It felt as if I had left a part of me in Costa Rica and being back in The States, all I knew was I needed to return. The next step in my journey was a trip back to Costa Rica, and to the same place again, Blue Osa.
I felt calm coming back as if this was always what was meant to happen but yet excited to see the staff again and to now live three months here. This was going to be a big change for me but I was ready for it.
There’s something about the place that just allows you to completely unwind and relax. Being here, watching retreat groups come in weekly, and seeing their joy and love when first arriving and the last day of leaving, makes me realize the sacred space this place has grown to be.
It’s a space where you can connect back to yourself. Spiritually, mentally or physically, whatever that is for you, this is where you go back home with yourself.
With all the nature it’s surrounded by and no T.V’s and wi-fi in the kitchen area only, it really gives you the opportunity to disconnect and to connect to yourself. This is something many people are forgetting how to do. With busy schedules, to-do lists that only keep growing, most of us have forgotten what it’s like to sit by the ocean reading a book.
These moments matter, because it’s moments that give you more time.
Blue Osa gives you the option of being at the pool, tanning, doing yoga in their deck, ocean swims, sunrises, cardio in the jungle, meditation in their temple, reading books all day, massages, facials, and much more.
This is why I chose to come back to Blue Osa Yoga Retreat And Spa, not just for what it offers, but for the lifestyle that can be created once you’re here, the investment you’re creating for yourself.
