Jonathan and Kelly arrived for their Blue Osa Yoga Retreat and Spa Destination Wedding in early December. On the beautiful Osa Peninsula in Southern Costa Rica. The couple graciously granted us this interview to share their most memorable and joyous moments.
What made you decide on a destination wedding in Costa Rica? Why Blue Osa Yoga Retreat and Spa?
Jon and I spent a vacation at Blue Osa four years ago. We were impressed with its beauty and natural surroundings. We enjoyed the intimate setting and the warm friendly attention of the Blue Osa staff. And although we were not considering marriage at that time we jokingly thought this would be ideal for a destination wedding.
Jon added, we researched the cost of both a traditional wedding and destination wedding. We found the difference in the total cost was actually minimal compared to the other venues we looked at. When we considered the cost for an elaborate one day event compared to a seven-day destination wedding shared with family and friends we knew it would be well worth the expense return to Costa Rican four our own destination wedding at the Blue Osa Yoga Retreat and Spa.
We were eager and excited to share the Blue Osa experience with our family and friends.
What was your favorite aspect of having a destination wedding in Costa Rica? Your favorite part of the experience?
The entire experience was magical Kelly stated. I am not sure I can pick just one. The actual wedding feels like a blur, Kelly laughed. But I guess I would say being here at Blue Osa has taken out all the stress and worry out of the final days before the wedding ceremony.
As soon as we arrived I felt a sense of peace. All our guest had arrived and everything seemed to be in place. The entire day was incredible.
Both Kelly and Jon agreed that their favorite aspect was being able to enjoy this special time with their family and friends. And still have plenty of time alone together.
Do you regret not celebrating with a traditional wedding?
Not at all the couple said. There are other family members and friends who were unable to join us. We plan on another ceremony to include those family and friends, answered Kelly. Jon stated, many of our guest this week are long-time friends from the U.K. So it been a perfect way to be able to see each other for more than one or two days.
I think our wedding in Costa Rica has everything we want in our wedding. Blue Osa and Costa Rica could not be more beautiful. The rainforest, the ocean, exotic birds and as we said your staff cannot be more accommodating. We couldn’t be happier with our choice.
What would you say to others thinking of a destination wedding?
Do it! They chimed in unison. You won’t regret it. It takes no more planning than a traditional wedding. Aaron, owner of Blue Osa was there to help us the whole way. Whatever we needed he was willing to help accommodate us.
The is plenty for you and your guest to do once the actual wedding is over. Blue Osa staff is happy to arrange a number of adventure tours around the Osa Peninsula.
Kelly added, yes our guest could take part in any number of activities here, surfing, kayaking, ziplining, water rappelling. horseback riding and hiking. Jon and I took a day together to Plane Tour over into the Corcovado National Park.
Of course, a number of our party were happy to stay at Blue Osa at the pool or private beach. And after a long day, head off to the spa.
What three words best sum up your wedding day?
Special
Magical
Love-filled
